In 1908, Zane Grey wrote the biography of Colonel Charles “Buffalo” Jones. He resided at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and was well known as a preserver of the American Bison. Grey in his summary stated: There is no frontier today in the sense that our ancestors understood the term. One of the old guard, however, still remains, Buffalo Jones, a strange character, whose name in many homes is a household word.
