Zane Grey’s To The Last Man is a novel based on the Pleasant Valley War, a violent series of events that took place in the remote area of central Arizona in the late 1880s. Grey wanted to write a factual book on the War, but anyone even remotely involved was reticent to speak about it. Many “facts” died with the participants so Grey ended up writing a novelized version of the events.
